Hi all !Streams !

Had a quick question on the intent of RSS feeds in streams. Is this something that is being deprecated as this is more focused software than hubzilla? I only ask, because last week I was able to add an RSS feed to my connections, but after the latest update, anytime I try to add one it fails with a remote channel or protocol issue.

Wasn't sure if this is intended moving forward, or a bug.

Just to confirm, I also can't add RSS feeds anymore.

The feed processing library was removed on February 17, 2020. Curious what makes you think it was working recently.

There are currently no plans to bring it back.

There are 3 issues.

RSS feeds are not compatible with the fediverse.
The feed processing library we used (simplepie) has been abandoned/un-maintained for around 15 years. (To be fair there have been a couple of patches since then, but he's dead, jim).
It sucks up resources like a blue whale sucks up krill.

Good to know. I haven't seen any RSS feeds populate, but I was previously able to add them to my connections.

All good, makes sense. I was just unsure of the expectation, and until the last update hasn't received any errors when trying to add them.

No worries. But I'll need to take a closer look when I'm getting fired up on coffee tomorrow. It's incredibly weird that a connection was added.
