I had the most trouble reading the #microblogpub version because I've got a lot of light around me which makes dark screens problematic. But it is nice to see the consistency across the code blocks.

So you're saying they use HTML in activities - and nobody has ever done that before in the fediverse?

We can do code blocks in html, markdown, and bbcode. Take your pick. There's also a styling plugin which will change colours appropriate to the language context but i don't currently have that installed here.

@mike I didn't say they were the first or that there was anything revolutionary, other then people are working on getting things to work how one might expect across different servers running different software. as the screenshots show, the three different servers are rendering the posts a bit differently with their own internal css which I am posting about because I thought people on some of the various sides (like mastodon that don't have this ability natively) would be interested to see

@mike seems like the rendering of your code blocks isnt working for the second and third ones when federated over here to this instance of streams

@wakest @mike on a totally different note, I just edited that post to add your handle cause I forgot to add it before and the edited part federated instantly to this (mastodon) side. Glad to see it work so well, I can't want till mastodon adds editing to the actual interface so I can edit my own posts finally

Well that's certainly interesting. It looks fine for me on all three of my streams sites. I wonder if it's something in the dark theme (?). I'll take a look.

Nope. I've tried all the dark theme variants and it still works fine. They must be doing something unusual with the CSS at plan9.

I just find it all amusing. The fediverse of today is finally beginning to catch up with the fediverse of a decade ago. Meanwhile we're working on things you'll probably discover a decade from now once other projects "invent" it, because if we do something novel and interesting nobody will ever notice or care.

@mike hopefully one day we can all just choose what server software to use and have all the details of it working fade into the background cause everything just plays nicely together. But that will take many many people working together ironing out tiny details for many many more years
