I guess I should write an #introduction
My name is Ryan and I live in Toronto.
Been on the fediverse since 2017, sometimes more active than other times. Decided to switch instances and move to Fosstodon for the local timeline and better stability. It's been great so far!

Been using #Linux at $dayjob since 2000s (and also Solaris around that time but not anymore).
#Linux on the home desktop since 2016, when MS was intrusively pushing people from Windows 7 to 10, and haven't looked back.

@Ryan Daniels Yeah the Windows 8 era was what made me decide to finally try Linux on the desktop more hardcore too. Welcome to the fediverse :)

Windows 7 locked me out one year when I was still in school and needed to finish a report (said it was a pirated version). I was so furious I vowed to use Linux ever after and have stuck with that..must have been 2010 because I remember installing Ubuntu 10.10

For me it was when my motherboard crapped out and I put the hard drive into another computer so I could keep my files and settings. It told me I had to buy a new Windows license for the "new computer". Haven't looked back.
