Button "Select previously uploaded photo" does not work in

/profile_photo
/cover_photo

You can select a photo but this has no effect.

The process using button "upload" does work.

idea for a nice to have wow effect: clone the profile and cover photo as well.

They are both cloned. I'll put all of this on my list of things to check.Time hasn't been my friend lately...

Yes, the pictures itself are cloned. I had to choose them as "avatar" again. That is what I was trying to say

It would be a nice effect. On the other hand one has to choose a nick as well before importing the existing account. So it is kind of consistent not to use the profile photo of the imported account (for the new clone).

I'm just saying their status as a profile pic or cover photo "should" be preserved and this worked in the past. I'll check and figure out why it isn't working now. And you don't have to choose a new nick. Another thing on my to-do list is to check the existing channel and let you know if there's a problem with the nick before we start the data transfer. .
